Participatory Budgeting Guide
What would you like to do?
How residents propose, cost, discuss and choose projects within a published budget — and follow their delivery.
Inside this guide
1. The cycle
Announcement, idea collection, discussion, feasibility review, costed proposals, voting, results, implementation and impact. Each stage has dates and rules that are published before it starts.
2. From idea to costed project
The body running the budget checks feasibility and cost. Ideas that are merged or rejected keep a public explanation.
3. Voting
Each person has a limited number of choices and can change them until the vote closes. Results show votes per project and what fits within the allocation.
Tip: On LaSocialOffline, budgets marked "Illustrative" are examples, not real public money.
4. Delivery and impact
Winning projects move to implementation with updates, spending and a documented outcome.
